Integrative Oncology is an exciting branch of cancer care that is committed to the use of complementary therapeutic options. The therpaies are all evidenced based and not "alternatives" to traditional cancer care, rather they are used in adjunct to surgery, hormone treatment, radiation and chemotherapy. Such options include natural and botanical products, nutrition, acupuncture, massage and mind body therapies. More information can be found at the Society for Integrative Oncology's website.
Integrative Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine offers acupuncture to decrease symptoms associated with cancer care. We do not treat cancer, we treat the patient and the systems effected by the cancer. Kerry Jenni has completed training with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and their integration of acupuncture program. Both she and Joshua have been working with Central Vermont Medical Center's departments of radiology and oncology to implement acupuncture as a natural adjunct to cancer care. The treatments we provide do not interfere with cancer treatment, rather they have been proven helpful to allow a patient to receive the full recommended chemotherapy regimens when otherwise side effects have interfered.
Acupuncture has been shown to help a variety of conditions during cancer treatment, the most common are:
Nausea
Dry Mouth
Pain
Vomiting
Acid Reflux
Stress
Sleeplessness
Hot Flashes
Neuropathy
